Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Hubert May was born on April 23, 1944 to Hubert and Gurtie Lee May in Dora, AL. He graduated from Dora High School where he was a varsity star in both football and basketball. After high school Ronnie enlisted in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam from January 1966 to January 1967. Upon completion of his military service Ronnie began working in and later retired from the coal mines. After retirement he spent much of his time fishing, hunting and gardening. Family was at the top of Ronnie’s list. He loved each and every member of his family unconditionally. Friendships also held a special place in his heart. The friendships he made were a true testament to the person he was. Ronnie was one of the most selfless people you would ever meet. He was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone that asked. We can only aspire to be the person Ronnie was. He departed this life on Tuesday March 1, 2022. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Lee May and Gurtie Lee Schill May and his brother, Monroe May. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Amy Chandler (Chad) and Shante Miller (Jon); brothers, James May and Wayne May and his grandchildren, Cristian Leger, Jesse Miller and Wyatt Chandler as well as a host of loving relatives and friends.
