Michael Akers

June 3, 1954 - December 10, 2021

Michael Akers, age 67, of Empire, passed away December 10, 2021. He is preceded in death by his father, John “Bill” William Akers; mother, Emma Mae Motte; son, Danny Phillips; brothers, Charles “Bull” Akers, Wayne Norris Akers; sisters, Sandy Darlene Akers and Kathy Lynn Bates. Michael is survived by his son Michael Shane Akers (Amanda); daughters, Christy Phillips, Billie Phillips and Cindy Higginbotham; brother Stanley Akers; sisters, Charlotte Simmons and Patricia Motte; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and many other family members. Michael was a fan of Alabama football. He enjoyed riding his Goldwing motorcycle with his brother and fishing with his son. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 14,2021 at 11 am in the New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service time.
