Guy H. Young

June 13, 1935 - January 26, 2022

Guy H. Young, age 86, of Jackson, TN passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Guy was born June 13, 1935, in Sumiton, AL to the late Claude D. and Vinie Elizabeth Fortenberry Young. He was a staple in Modern Woodmen of America since 1970, receiving numerous of their highest awards, retiring as the Regional Director of the West Tennessee and North Mississippi area in 2003. He was an avid crappie and bass fisherman and enjoyed the friendship of his many friends in the Paris Landing area. He and his wife, Shirley, enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises together and spending the colder months at their home in Florida. Guy took immense pleasure in sharing the benefits from his success by giving to his family and helping others. He was a former member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church, serving in various areas of church leadership and more recently at West Jackson Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Lilly Young of Jackson, TN; daughters, Donna Young Flack and husband David of Sumiton, AL and Darlene Young Moody and husband Wayne of Jackson, TN; four grandchildren, Rachel Earnest, Brad Flack (Meredith), Jeffrey Flack (Morgan) and Kurt Moody; and five great-grandchildren, Alaina Earnest, Tanner Earnest, Brayleigh Flack, Briggs Flack, and Ryan Flack. Preceding him in death other than his parents include his son, Jeff Young; brother, Troy "Buddy" Young, and sister, Elsie Wells. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 1,22 at 3:00 pm in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at McCormack Cemetery in Dora. Visitation is Tuesday from 2-3 pm at the funeral home.
