Charles R. Roberts Sr

Charles R. Roberts, Sr., age 82, of Sumiton, passed away May 16, 2019. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Barbara Roberts; parents Paul and Jessie Ruth Roberts; brothers, Billy Wayne Roberts, Gene Roberts and Larry “Bones” Roberts, and sister Faye (Richard “Dickie”) Moore. Charles is survived by his children, Charles R. (Donella) Roberts, Jr., Jackie Ellenburg, Charlotte Gerontakis (George), Harold Harrison, and Connie Glover; sister, Jan (Gary) Moss; sister-in-law, Sandra Roberts; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Charles was a lifelong member of Dora Church of God. He retired from the City of Mountain Brook where he worked as an Assistant Superintendent of Public Works. Charles served our country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Occupation Medal. Funeral Services will be held at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home, Dora. Visitation from 5:00-7:00 pm Sunday, May 19, 2019. Funeral service Monday, May 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm.
