Brenda G. Marbutt

Brenda G. Marbutt, age 64, of 233 Broadwater Drive was called home by her savior Friday February 3, 2012. She was born in Birmingham February 15, 1947 to Lael and Lola Hollis. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she played the piano frequently and faithfully working and taking part in my programs and activities for the young people. She was baptized at the age of 9 years when she attended Sayre Baptist Church. She has attended Hayden Baptist Church since moving there 14 years ago. She loved God's work. She was a loving and caring person, always thinking of other people and a mentor to many. Professionally her career spanned 33 years with Social Security as a claims authorizer and she taught classes there also. Since retirement, she has worked at Corner High School taking part in fund raisers and for the drama club. She was always busy helping and raising funds for charities. Brenda leaves a void that cannot ever be filled. Her caring and loving ways for her family and friends cannot be equaled. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Lael Hollis and her grandparents, Thomas C. Griffin and Cora Griffin, John I. Hollis and Josephine Hollis. Also her mother-in-law, Pauline Marbutt. She is survived by her loving husband, Danny Marbutt to whom she was married for 47 years; one son, Chris Marbutt and two grandsons, Justin Marbutt and Brandon Marbutt; her mother, Lola Hollis and one brother, Steve Hollis and wife Dibi, nephew, Alex Hollis and niece Carmen Hollis; brothers-in-law, Gary (Lisa) Marbutt and Roger (Sandra) Marbutt and sister-in-law, Pat (Kent) Sellers; her father-in-law Wilburn Marbutt. She leaves a host of relatives and friends and was an inspiration to many people and was dearly loved by all who knew her. She will forever be missed and remembered for her kind and loving ways. Always thinking of everyone before herself. Funeral services will be at New Horizon Memorial Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. John Foles conducting services. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in New Horizon Memorial Gardens.
